The NEURO HiTRONIC system knee joint is suitable for custom-made knee-ankle-foot orthoses (KAFOs) with microprocessor-controlled swing phase and stance phase control. Patented microhydraulics make the joint small and light. The slim, anatomically shaped controller contains all the electronics, including the battery, and is discreetly integrated into the lower leg shell of the orthosis. Motion sensors in the controller register the position and movement of the lower leg and signal to the system knee joint when to lock and unlock. Sensor data is processed 400 times per second by the high-performance microprocessor, allowing the device to react extremely quickly to situational changes when walking. It is preassembled at a 5° angle, corresponding to a physiological knee joint angle. Via Bluetooth® connection it is paired with the remote control, which allows the patient to choose between auto mode, free mode, and lock mode. The NEURO HiTRONIC can also be operated by smartphone or smartwatch.
