The G-walk, now available from Rehabilitation Technical Components, is a pocket-sized, wireless gait lab for user-friendly evaluation of spatiotemporal gait parameters. To assess a patient’s gait symmetry, just strap on the cellphone-sized unit and instruct the patient to walk 20 feet. The graphical analysis instantly appears on a computer screen, allowing the clinician to compare the patient’s gait to normalized values or assess the effects of rehabilitation. The system also provides objective data to help document and justify claims. The new smaller unit requires no mats, wires, heavy equipment, or cameras.
