David G. Armstrong, DPM, MD, PhD, professor of surgery and director of the Southwestern Academic Limb Salvage Alliance (SALSA), published his 600th peer-reviewed manuscript in January 2022, at age 52. He becomes the first podiatric surgeon in the history of the specialty to reach this landmark. He reached 500 peer-reviewed manuscripts at age 50. His work has been cited more than 55,000 times. He and his colleagues have become the first podiatric surgeons to publish in a multitude of high impact peer-reviewed journals. This includes the New England Journal of Medicine, Nature journals, The Lancet, JAMA, Journal of Vascular Surgery, and Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery among many others. Lower Extremity Review congratulates Dr. Armstrong for this accomplishment and is grateful for his service as an Editorial Advisory Board member.
