Cambridge, MA-based EOS Imaging’s 3D modeling system compares well with computed tomography (CT) scanning for measuring femoral torsion, according to a study presented October 24 at the Journées Françaises de Radiologie in Paris.
Results demonstrated no significant differences between the two modalities’ femoral torsion measurements of 30 patients who underwent both EOS scanning in a standing position and recumbent CT scanning as part of hip surgery replacement planning. A comparative dosimetric study conducted by the Institute of Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety showed the EOS system produced a 20-fold reduction in dose exposure.
