WillowWood wins VA innovation contract

The US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) announced in February that Mt. Sterling, OH-based WillowWood, in partnership with The Ohio State University in Columbus and The University of Akron, have secured a new contract to develop a more comfortable and effective prosthetic system for VA patients with above-knee amputations.

The 26-month project is aimed at providing transfemoral amputees with a comfortable, durable prosthetic socket system that maintains fit and performance across a wide range of activities.

The contract is part of the VA’s Innovation Initiative (VAi2) competition, which invites industry leaders, start-ups, nonprofits, and academic institutions to submit ideas that will improve healthcare and services for veterans.
