A new website, DME CBP Education, brings together publicly available information from government sources to help suppliers of durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics, and supplies (DMEPOS) prepare for Round 2021 of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS’) Competitive Bidding Program (CBP). The DMEPOS CBP was established by the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act of 2003 (MMA). Under the program, DMEPOS suppliers compete to become Medicare contract suppliers by submitting bids to furnish certain items in competitive bidding areas.
The website is a collaboration between the American Association for Homecare, the Council for Quality Respiratory Care, VGM & Associates, and the Healthcare Nutrition Council. Among the available tools are a bid calculator, financial documentation requirements, prerequisites to bid, pricing methodology, and terminology, as well as a series of video tutorials and a webinar. According to CMS, Round 2021 of the CBP is set to open July 16. To access the website, visit dmecbpeducation.com.
