Tamarack owner-founder Carlson ends
run as CEO, succeeded by Hofmeister

Joe Hofmeister took on a new role February 17 as CEO of Tamarack Habilitation Technologies, replacing company owner and founder J. Martin “Marty” Carlson, MS, CPO, FAAOP, who will maintain an active role at the Blaine, MN-based company as chief engineer.

Hofmeister, formerly Tamarack’s COO, is in charge of the medical technology company’s day-to-day management and strategic commercialization efforts.

Before joining Tamarack, Hofmeister was senior manager of strategic marketing and business development for Coloplast, a Minneapolis, MN-based medical device manufacturer. He also worked in the University of Minnesota Office for Technology Commercialization and spent 10 years in leadership roles in marketing and product and business development at American Medical Systems in Minnetonka, MN. He has international experience, as well, and held technology and business development roles with Muranaka Medical Instruments, a large Japanese medical instrument company.

“Joe’s background matches Tamarack’s existing opportunities perfectly,” said Carlson, who noted the company has a large backlog of innovative intellectual property (IP) in the areas of O&P, rehab technology, and wound prevention and healing that will benefit from Hofmeister’s experience in IP licensing and global commercialization of emerging medical technologies.
