Spenco’s sandal sales skyrocket

Waco, TX-based Spenco Medical Corporation earned the number-one spot on the fastest-growing brand list in the Leisure Trends Group’s 2012 Outdoor RetailTrak report, released in January.

Spenco’s sandal lines were recognized for accelerated growth in the outdoor sandal category, yielding a 4173% increase from the previous year. The Leisure Trends Group, a market research firm known for its point-of-sales data, conducts its rankings annually.

In 2010 Spenco launched its first sandal lines, the Yumi, which offers a solution for individuals who traditionally are not able to wear flip-flops because of poor arch support, and the Kholo, a slip-on style to alleviate heel and arch pain. In early 2012 the company introduced a new toe-post sandal style, the Total Support Quartet, designed with a sporty strap that fully secures the foot in the sandal and off­loads pressure from the ball of the foot.

Spenco also ranked high in several other categories, including fastest-growing and top-
selling insole brand at outdoor retail, and fastest-growing sandal brands and best-selling sandal and insole brands at run specialty retail.
