Ottobock moves operations to Louisville

Medical device manufacturer Ottobock has begun relocation of its North America logistics and distribution operations from Minneapolis and Toronto, Canada, to Louisville, KY, the company reported in March. Based in Duderstadt, Germany, Otto Bock HealthCare established Minnesota-based Ottobock in 1958 as the Americas corporate headquarters.

The move to Louisville, which stood out among potential locations as a strategic shipping hub, is part of an expanded investment in the North American market that will help Ottobock meet its goal of tripling business, according to the company.

The transition to Louisville is underway and employees are providing limited receiving, stocking, and shipping of Ottobock mobility products and preparing the warehouse for additional inventory. The company has also started filling an estimated 20 new jobs.

Ottobock has received tax increment financing of $375,000 for up to 10 years to help with the $3.375 million relocation and growth investment, the company reported.
