At its Celebrate the Nations reception in September, Physicians for Peace honored the many organizations and individuals behind its ongoing efforts in Haiti.
Mary Anne Kramer-Urner, PT, the organization’s first volunteer at the Haitian Amputee Clinic at Albert Schweitzer Memorial Hospital in Deschapelles, Haiti, was honored alongside her husband and fellow physical therapist, David, who worked in Haiti on a separate mission in June. By the end of 2010, Physicians for Peace will have sent 16 physical therapists to Haiti.
The organization also recognized representatives from Healing Hands for Haiti, Friends of St. Vincent’s for Handicapped Children, and the newly formed Haitian Amputee Coalition.
Thank you so much for this story. At Physicians for Peace, we’re so proud of our volunteers and our shared commitment to build peace and international friendships through medicine.
