Philadelphia-based Liventa Bioscience and Cryoport, based in Lake Forest, CA, partnered in February to deliver Liventa’s cell-based biologics tissue forms directly to orthopedic care providers using Cryoport’s purpose-built cold chain logistics solutions, which extend the shelf life of live tissue cells.
Cryoport’s solution, based on its liquid nitrogen dry vapor shippers and logistics management platform, eliminates the need for dry-ice shipping and hospital-based cryogenic freezers, allowing feasible and affordable point-of-care delivery to biologics suppliers within the orthopedic arena, including small or mobile clinics, pharmacies, family practices, and orthopedic specialty care providers. Surgical centers and hospitals also benefit from elimination of issues related to dry ice transport and storage.
