iQube facilitates insoles for children

A Russian orthopedist at the Saint Petersburg State Paediatric Medical University combined data from Delcam’s iQube scanner with 3D spine and posture analyses and then used the company’s software to create custom orthotic insoles for children with locomotor disorders, Birmingham, UK-based Delcam announced in October.

Results of a three-patient pilot study in children with a skewed pelvis, which causes a shift in total body weight in the coronal plane and subsequent foot overloads on the side of pelvis skew, showed custom insole wear combined with exercise and manual corrective therapy produced significant improvements in children’s biomechanics and posture.
