Birmingham, UK-based CAD-CAM software supplier Delcam will hold its Orthotics Technology Forum (OTF) on both sides of the Atlantic for the first time in 2014. Chicago’s Loyola University will host the US meeting June 5-6. A second event will follow in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, on September 18. Last fall, San Rafael, CA-based 3D design software company Autodesk announced its intention to acquire Delcam for a reported $276 million, a deal expected to close in the first quarter of Autodesk’s FY2015. The two companies offer complementary ranges of software, and the acquisition will combine Autodesk’s programs for design, engineering, and entertainment with Delcam’s manufacturing strengths.
Clive Martell, Delcam’s CEO, noted, “I am very excited by the opportunities from combining Delcam with Autodesk to create a compelling platform from which to service both companies’ manufacturing clients. The added strength and status that we will gain from being part of the Autodesk group will benefit our customers, our staff, and our sales channel.”
