Denver-based Boa Technology, maker of the Boa Closure System that is featured on a number of O&P devices, in late March underscored its commitment to the medical device market with the launch of a new Medical Business Unit.
“As we have become more visible in the medical field, we have received interest from a growing number of potential orthopedic and prosthesis device partners. They see the inherent added value of having the Boa Closure System on their products and feel confident that their consumers will too,” said Jimmy Capra, who was named director of the new Medical Business Unit.
Created by Gary Hammerslag in 1998 for the snowboard boot industry, the Boa Closure System provides quick on and off customized comfort with smooth, even closure and no pressure points. Now the closure system can also be seen on prescription and consumer retail medical braces by Futuro, DeRoyal, and Exos. The company maintains that, once locked into place, Boa reels and laces stay that way. Those reels and laces are guaranteed for the lifetime of the product.
“We are really energized here at Boa Technology, [with] the launch of the new Medical Business Unit coupled with the incredible momentum we have in terms of category expansion, sales, product development and brand awareness,” said Boa president Mark Soderberg. “We want to ensure that we can provide the best service to our customers and partners. This new Medical Business Unit is a reflective commitment to positive and steady growth in the medical category for 2011 and beyond.”
