The American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association (AOPA) announced it is partnering with the Journal of Rehabilitative and Assistive Technologies Engineering (RATE). Published by SAGE Publishing, RATE is a peer-reviewed, open access, interdisciplinary journal focusing on the engineering aspects and practical applications of rehabilitation and assistive technologies.
“We are excited about this partnership and what it means for both AOPA and the profession,” said AOPA Executive Director Eve Lee, MBA, CAE. “This partnership will bolster the dissemination of evidence-based science, broaden the reach of O&P [orthotic and prosthetic] research to include a more diverse cohort of rehabilitation professionals, and most importantly, improve patient outcomes.”
“We look forward to receiving regular submissions from AOPA members and to seeing Special Collections within their specialty as a result of the partnership,” said Garth Johnson, PhD, editor in chief of RATE.
In addition to increasing publication opportunities and the visibility of O&P research, AOPA members are eligible for a reduced Article Processing Charge (APC) if their manuscript is accepted for publication in the journal following peer review. To qualify for this discount, the submitting author must be an AOPA member. Members will also be encouraged to submit to an Annual Special Collection in the journal, featuring papers from AOPA’s National Assembly. Finally, AOPA will have representation on the RATE Editorial Board.
