In physical therapy settings, BiowavePro is used during exercise, stretching, and active and passive range-of-motion therapy to manage pain and facilitate motion. For lower extremities, BiowavePro is designed to manage acute, chronic, and postoperative acute pain in the knee, ankle, and foot. The device can help ameliorate osteoarthritis pain, and is intended in particular for managing pain from ligament and tendon-related issues. A home prescription unit, Homewave, is also available.

Acute pain might be mild and last just a moment, or it might be severe and last for weeks or months.
