Whitmore joins Allard foot drop team

Rockaway, NJ-based Allard USA in November introduced ESPY award winner Jamie Whitmore as one of the newest members of TeamUp, Allard’s national team for people with limited mobility due to foot drop.

Whitmore, who has won five Xterra US national titles, joined 10 other TeamUp athletes in Charlotte, NC, for the group’s first 2014 event, which included assisting with gait analysis and brace fittings and taking part in the 2014 Novant Health Thunder Road Marathon.

Whitmore, who developed foot drop after being diagnosed with a spindle cell sarcoma that had wrapped around her sciatic nerve, competes in Allard’s ToeOff brace. In July, sports television network ESPN honored Whitmore with its 2014 ESPY award for Best Female Athlete with a Disability.
