Volunteers fit children’s feet in record time

Shoe donations from Chapel Hill, NC-based FootCentric, New Balance, headquartered in Brighton, MA, and Teaneck, NJ-based Aetrex Worldwide enabled an army of volunteer social workers, teachers, physical therapists, physical therapy students, pedorthists, and school health counselors to fit 166 children at Sylvan Elementary School in Snowcamp, NC, in just four hours.

The volunteers found 76% of the children were wearing shoes that were too small or not sized for the shape of their feet.

The event was part of the Free Your Feet Project, a joint program among the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Physical Therapy Faculty Clinic, North Carolina Physical Therapy Association, and FootCentric that provides therapeutic footwear and medical assessment for patients in need.
