Navy, Steadman Clinic partner for research

In a benchmark collaboration between two world-class research centers, the Vail, CO-based Steadman Philippon Research Institute/Steadman Clinic and the Naval Medical Research Unit-San Antonio will work together on sophisticated musculoskeletal research, according to a Steadman-Philippon release.

The research will focus on musculoskeletal disease and injury and preventing or delaying the onset of osteoarthritis and other degenerative orthopedic conditions. The interventions developed through this research will subsequently serve as a model for osteoarthritis treatment for civilian and active and veteran military populations.

This partnership is in line with the Falls Church, VA-based Defense Health Agency’s implementation of the National Defense Authorization Act, which calls for better integration between civilian and military organizations in support of readiness, research, and patient care.
