Cur crowdfunds personal TENS device

San Francisco-based Cur on May 13 launched a crowdfunding campaign for its personal, miniaturized TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) device for treatment of chronic muscle, joint, and nerve pain.

Designed in partnership with Huge Design, the San Francisco industrial design studio behind the Nike Fuelband, Jibo robot, and Sonos products, Cur’s eponymous device features adhesive reusable gel pads that can be used anywhere on the body and intelligent biometric sensors that automatically measure and match pulses to the user’s response.

The Cur will undergo clinical evaluation this spring and summer and the company anticipates Food and Drug Administration clearance sometime this fall. Buyers can reserve a device for $149 on cur.me, where they can also view a demonstration video.
