Novato, CA-based Birkenstock USA in January introduced vegan footwear, previously available only in Europe, to US markets.
Several models of its sandals for adults and children, which are free from animal-based materials such as leather and wool, as well as dyes and adhesives of animal origin, are available online at birkenstock.com/us/vegan and in select retail stores.
Last year PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) Germany honored the company for its “compassionate” footwear.
