AFX improves jump height, balance

The Ankle Foot Maximizer (AFX) from Progressive Health Innovations can significantly improve performance in college basketball players, according to research from the University of British Columbia presented in September at the International Foot and Ankle Biomechanics (i-FAB) meeting.

Seven players completed six weeks of progressive strength training and six weeks of power training with the device. That group significantly outperformed players in a control group when tested on vertical jump height and dynamic balance. Group differences for agility scores were not statistically significant.

Earlier in the month, the Port Moody, BC-based company was awarded a U.S. patent for the AFX device.
